Soka calcined and hydrous kaolins are used as semi-reinforcing or reinforcing fillers in elastomer and thermoplastic polymer formulations used by industry, foods, pharmaceutical…
CRUDE KAOLINS : SIALITE, SOKALITE, BLANKALITE 78
Chemicals proprieties :
Formule: Hydrous aluminium silicate : Al4Si4O10(OH)8
Form: Lamellar
Hardness: 1,5 at 2 on Mohs
Refractoriness: 1730 at 1785°C
Good resistance to acids except Hydrofluoric acid.
Chemically inert of Ph 5 to 7
Advantages of SOKA kaolin :
- Excellent mixing ability and low sticking.
- In extrusion, low abrasion and clog up.
- Good dimensional stability.
- Improved surface condition.
- Matting effect.
- Excellent hole punching resistance properties, abrasivity and tensile strength.
- Titanium dioxide extender.
CALCINED KAOLINS : METASIAL V800 and SOKACI 802 for EPDM, CR, IR… compounds.
Thermal treatment between 800 °C and 1000 ° C undergoes dehydrolysis and formation of amorphous silica.
Chemical properties :
Anhydrous Aluminium Silicate : 2Al2O33Si+SiO2
Advantages of SOKA calcined grades :
- Excellent mixing ability.
- High extrusion capacity.
- Electrical insulator.
- Matting effect.
- Low deformation value under compression (DRC) associated with a good hardness.
